ALFRED  LAWRENCE  GREENLAW:  Millwright, Outdoorsman, Proud  Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather
October 17, 1912  -  April 10, 1999
Alfred was the eldest son of Loren and Anna Greenlaw.  He had many adventures growing up on the family's farm in Spanaway.  They had cows, horses, pigs and chickens.  Like many big brothers, he looked out for his siblings and even took the blame for wrecking the family's Model A truck when his little sister Evelyn drove it into a burn-pile of tree stumps and limbs.  She was about ten and couldn't reach the pedals.  He loved ocean beaches, mountain streams, woods and meadows.  He always had a great story to tell about growing up on the farm or his hunting and fishing exploits.

"Alfred Greenlaw, 86, died April 10, 1999. Alfred was born in Tacoma on Oct. 17, 1912 and had resided in Spanaway until recently moving to the Bremerton area. He was a retired millwright and a member of the  Millmans Union. Alfred was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Don Greenlaw of Silverdale; daughter, Leah Smith of Lakewood; sisters, Lorraine Caulfield of Chewelah, Lucille Nilson of Port Ludlow, Evelyn Hanson of Olympia;  seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death  by a son,
Thomas Averill.  Burial in Sumner Cemetery."
